I love and have always loved reading. I usually read one at once but at times I will read two. I have a book end which states 'Caution! Bookworms bite when disturbed.

Cop Town

Cop Town - Karin Slaughter

Cop Town is one of my favourite books of the year so far.
A standalone novel, set in 1970's Atlanta. At times it's brutal, female police are not respected or wanted by the male officers.
Maggie has been an officer for a while and is partnered with Kate who is in her first week. I loved both of these characters as well as Gail, who knows how to survive such a harsh environment.
Whilst there is brutality, sexism, racism and numerous other bad qualities there is also compassion. Parts of the novels describe events that happened in Vietnam and WW2 and it was hard to believe that they involved the same people.
It was different reading a novel that was modern but set in a time before mobile phones and computers. I haven't read many like it.
I have read books by Karin Slaughter before but not for a few years. This is going to be rectified and I plan on reading more in the near future.

Thanks to the Dead Good Group for sending me this novel and reintroducing me to an amazing author.
