I love and have always loved reading. I usually read one at once but at times I will read two. I have a book end which states 'Caution! Bookworms bite when disturbed.
The Invention of Wings
I found this novel to be mesmerising and totally unlike anything I have read before. It mixes fact and fiction and is told from two different view points, that of the slave and reluctant slave owner.
Very descriptive of the conditions the slaves lived in, the fear of punishment and the workhouse was hard to read at times but was an essential part of the story.
I loved reading both narratives but preferred Handful's story. She was such an easy character to love.
Would recommend this novel to anyone who likes historical fact or fiction. Or anybody like me, who reading a novel like this spends so much more time looking at historical facts on the internet.
