I love and have always loved reading. I usually read one at once but at times I will read two. I have a book end which states 'Caution! Bookworms bite when disturbed.
A Pleasure and a Calling
A Pleasure and the Calling is one of those books that you still think about hours, days or weeks after finishing it. The main character Mr Hemming is an estate agent who attaches himself to people he meets through his work. He lets himself into their homes using the key he kept when he sold them their house. The owners have no idea that he has been or still is in their property. He is invisible in the town, nobody knows anything about him and the reader only gets a glimpse of the past.
There were times when the book was very difficult to read it is that unsettling ,but I just needed to know what was going to happen next. Mr Hemming is such a bizarre character, I didn't like him or loathe him I just hope I never meet anybody like him.
P.S if you buy a new house change your locks.
