I love and have always loved reading. I usually read one at once but at times I will read two. I have a book end which states 'Caution! Bookworms bite when disturbed.

The Dynamite Room

The Dynamite Room - Jason Hewitt

The Dynamite Room is one of the more disturbing books I have read. It tells the story of a German soldier who takes a young British girl hostage in her own home in the early stages of the Second World War. Lydia was evacuated to Wales but ran away and on returning to her home found the village deserted. Lydia's father and brother have joined up, she has no idea where her mother is and she is struggling with remorse over Button, a companion she has left back in Wales.

The narration jumps back and forth from Lydia to Heiden, sometimes after just a couple of paragraphs. A bit confusing at first but I liked it, I just had to keep reading to see what was happening next.
It's an eerie, chilling, heartbreaking read and if you like a different take on WW2 then The Dynamite Room is one for you.
Thanks to the publisher and the author for the copy via NetGalley.
