I like the way that The Dinner is written but it is a book that is slow to get to the point. 4 people sit around a table in a restaurant waiting to discuss something that could change all of their lives.
There are only a handful of characters in this novel but I didn't like any of them. At first I thought the really bad character in the novel would be Serge but towards the end I thought he was the only one who had at least some morals.
If you decide to read this, give it time. It does take a while to get going but I'm glad I persevered. Parts of it are unsettling but makes you think about what you would do to protect your family.
This novel was the choice for the #crime book club for May.
