I love and have always loved reading. I usually read one at once but at times I will read two. I have a book end which states 'Caution! Bookworms bite when disturbed.

Station Eleven

Station Eleven - Emily St. John Mandel

I never would have thought that a combination of dystopian fiction and a group of actors performing Shakespeare plays would work but it does. Very well.
When an outbreak of Georgia flu wipes out most of the world population, a couple of small groups of people survive. During the next twenty years these people connect at some time.
The story moves back and forth in time but it is very easy to follow. I repeatedly wanted to read a little bit more, to see if I correctly guessed the connection between characters in the old world and the new.
At times it is poignant but not to the extent where it overpowers the narration.
This is another novel that I would have probably have missed if it wasn't for the power of social media. Not my usual type of read at all, but one that I'm really glad that I did put aside my reservations.
